Updates!

Yesterday we started to learn about Kinetic and Potential Energy. Here’s a fun video that we watched/sang along with in class: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vl4g7T5gw1M Students did not get a chance to look over their science tests as much as I would’ve like today, because we have a student who has not completed it yet. I didn’t want to go over it while that student was in the room. If your child did not bring home their test and they tell you it’s because they didn’t finish – trust them. They really might have skipped whole pages or whole sections and I didn’t want to just mark it wrong for those questions. You can always e-mail me and ask! As you’ll see – some pretty silly mistakes. Talk to your child about what it means to “check their work.” I tell them it means going back to the first question and reading the questions again, reading all the answer choices, and making sure they really marked the correct one. Or for math, going back and solving each question again and making sure their answer is correct. It is time consuming, but I’d rather them learn those skills than not perform well on tests because of silly mistakes! Boone County Elementary Schools have a TOUGH grading scale (talk about an AP level grading scale for the elementary level...yikes).
